• Building a new life in Israel is especially challenging for immigrants from the developing world, such as Ethiopia and Bukhara.
• Ethiopian Jews, now about 100,000 people, are among the poorest economic groups in Israel. 72% live under the poverty line.
• Forty percent of Ethiopian youth are categorized as "at-risk."
• Many of these New Immigrants have left a country where they have been persecuted and oppressed with only a few meager belongings and no means of education and self support.
